Subject: Georg Heinemann
Hi:
I was wondering if you had any information on a Georg Heinemann
who served in the Erbprinz regiment and was captured at the Battle of
Trenton. He was held prisoner at Fort Frederick in MD and later married
Mary Elizabeth Howard. He is buried in Green County, PA.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Mr. Johnson,
glad to be able to help you with some information -
1.) Georg Heinemann, the soldier of the Kassel Regt. Erbprinz was not
captured at Trenton, N.J., during the Christmas ambush in 1776, but
was captured with the Cornwallis army at Yorktown, Virginia,
in Oct. 1781. he was then taken to Frederick, Maryland, and when
set to march to New York for the regiemnts return to Germany,
he deserted in May 1783 and returned to Frederick.
He was born 1758/59 in Eschwege/Hessen.
2.) In the 'Journal of the Pennsylvania German Society, Vol. 23/1989/2,
I suppose it is available in the David Library, in an article written by
Nancy Rice Kiddoo, titled "Of Reveloutionary Memory", on page 59
she has a short biography of Georg Heinemann, who was later known
as George HINEMAN who married Elizabeth HOWARD 11 Oct 1785.
Hoping that this will give you a good start in your research, and if
I may make a plug for my books which should be in your library,
please check my webpage http://www.cgocable.net/~hessian
With my best regards,
John Merz, host of the list.
