I've "rescued" two old photographs belonging to the ANDERSON and VEST
Families. The first is a photograph of John ANDERSON and his wife Sada
which was taken at the Anderson Studio in Kearney, Nebraska. The photograph
appears to have been taken in the 1890's with John and Sada appearing to be
in their 20's or 30's at the time. In addition to their names, someone has
also written "Dad's oldest Brother" on the back of the photograph.



The second photograph is one of Will VEST, his wife Sophia, and son Elmer.
The photograph has no studio or location noted, but appears to have been
taken in the 1890's with the couple in their 20's and Elmer just a baby. In
addition to their names, someone has also written "Dad's sister" on the back
of the photograph. The handwriting on both photographs is by the same
person so I know that the photographs are connected in some manner.



Based on limited research I believe that the first photograph is one of John
Franklin Anderson b. 17 Oct 1860 in Rosebys Rook, VA to parents Abram
ANDERSON and Jane DAVIS. John married Sadie May WELLS on 1 Jan 1896 in
Divide, NE and died 19 Sept 1946 in Elmcreek, NE and is buried there. I was
able to trace the couple through the various census records as follows:



1900 census of Gibbon, NE:



John ANDERSON, age 39, born Oct 1860, married 4 years, born VA, parents born
VA, a Farmer

Sadie M. ANDERSON, wife, age 27, born Nov 1872, married 4 years, no
children, born IA, parents born IA

Abram ANDERSON, Father, age 73, born Oct 1826, a widower, born VA, parents
born VA



1910 census of Elm Creek, NE:



John ANDERSON, age 49, married 14 years, born VA, parents born VA, a Mail
Carrier

Sadie M. ANDERSON, wife, age 37, married 14 years, no children, born IA,
parents born IA/OH

Lillian P. DOBBINS, boarder, age 24, married 6 years, 2 children/1 living,
born NE, parents born PA/IN

Weldon DOBBINS, boarder, age 2, born NE, parents born NE



1920 census of Elm Creek, NE:



John F. ANDERSON, age 59, born VA, parents born VA, a Mail Carrier

Sadie M. ANDERSON, age 47, born IA, parents born IA/OH



I believe that the man in the second photograph is William Francis VEST b.
22 Jan 1868 in Summers, WV to parents James Jefferson VEST and Elizabeth
PLUMLY. William died 4 Nov 1939 in Kearney, NE. I believe that Sophia may
be a younger sister to John Franklin ANDERSON, but I'm not sure. I have
traced the couple through various census records as follows:

William VEST, age 32, born Jan 1868, married 5 years, born WV, parents born
VA/WV, a Farmer

Sophia VEST, wife, age 24, born Jan 1876, married 5 years, 1 child/1 living,
born IA, parents born WV

Elmer W. VEST, son, age 4, born Feb 1896, born NE



1910 census of Rusco, NE:



William VEST, age 42, married 15 years, born WV, parents born VA, a Farmer

Sophia VEST, wife, age 34, married 15 years, 2 children/2 living, born IA,
parents born VA

Elmer VEST, son, age 14, born NE

Richard VEST, son, age 6, born NE



1920 census of Rusco, NE:



W. F. VEST, age 51, born WV, parents born VA/WV, a Farmer

Sophia L. VEST, wife, age 43, born IA, parents born WV

Elmer W. VEST, son, age 23, born NE

Richard VEST, son, age 16, born NE



I am hoping to locate someone from these families so that these wonderful
old photographs can be returned to their rightful place with family. If you
are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact
me.
