Subject: [ANDERSON-L] TN ANDERSONs & BEAUMONT
Date: Fri, 5 Mar 1999 12:15:25 +1100
Jerre,
I was wondering if you knew the names of the parents of James Matthew
and Margaret Elvira ANDERSON as their first names are very similar to
those used by the BEAUMONT family who were living in Clarksville,
Montgomery County, TN from about 1828. The BEAUMONTs had moved from
Lynchburg in VA and were originally involved in tobacco manufacturing
and export.
Henry F. BEAUMONT had married Sarah G. ANDERSON in Lynchburg, VA in
1819. Possibly Sarah G ANDERSON had been a Quaker but after their
marriage the BEAUMONTs were heavily involved in the Methodist Church in
Lynchburg and Clarksville.. Sarah's sponsor for the marriage had been
Stirling C. ANDERSON but I do not know his relationship to Sarah.
Apparently, the BEAUMONTs were known to have been related to some TN
ANDERSONs as well as to VA ANDERSONS probably through the marriage of
Henry F BEAUMONT and Sarah G ANDERSON. The TN ANDERSONs were probably
originally from VA or at least they had had relatives in VA somewhere
near Lynchburg.
Here are some of the mentions of ANDERSON in Montgomery County, TN
