Carol, Take a look at the following web page and search for some of
the Anderson's. Carl August Anderson rings a bell... Check for other
names too. There are some similar names to some of my Anderson
ancestors, but my brick wall is on the other side - American stuff
known, but not Swedish...
Anyway, check the following page(s):
www.rootsweb.com/~neburt (check the search box about halfway down the
page)
http://www.rootsweb.com/~neburt/olres/Oakland/jmexintr.html
I'm going through the years again, and am at 1900 (or was it 1901?).
I've had that effort on hold as I work to get various large projects
done around the house (replacing windows, fixing exterior walls,
bathroom remodeling, etc.)
Hopefully we'll find ourselves scrabbling on opposite sides of a brick
wall!
But there's LOTS of Andersons....
Justin

| Hi, I'm researching my husband's family. They are a lost race I think. I have the current generations and some names for the past generations that came from Sweden. This is where I hit a brick wall. Maybe you can help. Generation 1-3 were all born in Sweden, (around V?nga, ?lvsborgs L?n, Sweden.)
|
| Most of them left Sweden in May 1888, with the exception of Selma who came to the US in Oct. 1885, and Gustaf Adolf Anderson who I believe came at a later date. I have information on Generations 5 and on for Karl August Anderson 1872 - 1945 and Berta Mary Charlotte Westerberg Abt. 1874 - 1907. Karl used the name Charles August Anderson or Carl August Anderson. The rest of the family have disappeared. My father in law's birth certificate shows Carl August Anderson, but later when he put his children in the Holdrege Christian Home in Nebraska after his wife died in 1907 in Colorado, he was using the name Charles August Anderson.
|
| One of the children in the home left the home in March 1909 to live with family in Norway, MI (possibly grandparents of his mother).
|
| They used the name Anderson in the US. My husband's father used Anderson, though some of the rest of them may have used a different spelling of Anderson.
|
| Anders Tarning was in the Swedish Army under the name of Tarning. Per Gustaf was in the Swedish Army under the name of Hilding which was probably assigned to him by the Army. Anders was from the area of T?rby parish, Sweden which is probably where the name Tarning was from. My info follows.
|
| When they came to the US, they lived in Dover, NJ. and it is understood that Per Gustaf worked at the Lackawanna Car Shop (maybe a railroad company ?)
|
| According to aletter from Harry A. W. Anderson, Per Gustaf Hilding 1840 - 1931 and Kajsa Andersdotter 1844 - 1929 died in CT, where they had moved to be near their "our father's sister" (unknown which one, possibly Selma).
|
| Karl (Charles) August Anderson died in Colorado.
|
| What I know about the family follows. If we are related, I will be happy to share what information I have about this family.
|
| Thanks, Carol Wolfe Anderson
