Rod,
Reading again one of your messages I should have answered. Yes the LDS
records are commprehensive, the microfilm is of the original birth, death
and marriage certificates and you can make copies for pennies. A little hard
to read but worth it. I searched the records of the small village of
Picinisco but only back to1800. The local priest will go back further if he
is amenable. I just searched the LDS Family History Library Catalogue
website for you and Sant'Elia Fiumerapido came up in the place search. It
doesn't mean you can access the records from the Internet but it means the
LDS have them and you can search them on microfilm at the local LDS office
for a small fee.
It's worth it. I'm from Edinburgh but I live in Toronto where LDS have
magnficent search facilities. I asked the Edinburgh LDS office if they can
get the records and they said yes and wondered why more Scottish and/or
Anglo Italians did not make more use of the service.
Did you know there were far more Italians ( per capita) in Scotland in 1900
than in England? Why is that? Well, when they travelled north to Scotland
there was nowhere else to go!! Just joking
Good Luck
Leonard D'Agostino.
