I wonder if anyone can tell me if my Demarini ancestors would be of Italian ancestry.

My mother always told me that her grand mother Ellen was Italian or possibly mixed Italian and French.
On her marriage on Apr 10 1882 she is described as Ellen Caroline Demarini, daughter of Henrico Demarini, a house painter. She had a sister Henrietta Johanna Demarini.
She was born in Notting Hill on Apr 8 1864, described as daughter of Enrico De Marini, house decorator.
Henry De Marini, house decorator, daughter of Bernard De Marini, a sculptor, married Ellen Kimble in London on 8 Apr 1861.
I had assumed these were Italians, with Henry and Bernard being anglifications of Enrico and Bernardo.
But now I have found from the 1861 census that Henry Anne Marini ( I think Anne might be a mistranscription of De ) aged 27, so born about 1834, was a British subject born in France.

Do you think he was Italian, British or French?

If of Italian ancestry, can anyone think why an Italian in France should have a child who has British citizenship in 1834?
Thanks for any ideas.
