Do you know the number of the file I should look at to see if any relations
were arrested in WW2? I've had a quick look on the National Archives
website, but I'm not sure what I'm looking for!

Regards

Linda

Dear Ron

The files on those arrested are in the National Archives here in London.
There are
also a couple of books on the subject, though at the moment I cannot lay my
hands on
the titles.

It was all quite scandalous, particularly as many of them - including the
manager of
the Ritz - were put on a boat for Canada which was torpedoed. Those who
survived
were put on another boat to Australia. Horrible.

Hello Seekers,

It appears that my great grandfather Domenico CASCARINO was arrested (at
the age of 82) in 1940 as a threat to the survival of the country in times
of conflict!!

He lived in Cannock, Staffordshire at this time and was probably classed as
an 'alien', still being an Italian citizen even though he had lived in
England since 1880 and one of his sons died fighting for England, the
country of his birth, in the 'Great War'.

I realise that many Italian (younger men) were sent to Canada and other
countries for the duration, however, perhaps due to his age Domenic was
released back into a very much divided family and lived for another couple
of years.

Are there any records of these arrests? How would I go about researching
them??
