I can tell from your responses to the discussion about certification and
accreditation that most of you have been involved in genealogy longer than I
have. I joined APG because I wanted my clients to understand my committment
to quality work. I recognize that I have much to learn. I have finished the
NGS American Genealogy Course and am looking for the next step. After
reading "Becoming an Accredited Genealogist" I realized that it will be a
while before I'm ready to go the AG route. I'm leaning toward CGRS now. I
have done about half time professional genealogy for the last 6-8 months and
am retired from the regular working world so I have a fair amount of time
for research over and above the work I do as a Professional Genealogist. So
far, the discussion has been covering questions I need answering. Do I
continue to accummulate research hours (1000) for qualifying for the AG or
do I attempt to prepare myself for the (probably) CGRS??? How is the best
way to prepare??
