I concur with Helen in being uncomfortable with computer-generated books,
although I do it frequently. My pet peeve has to do with the location
information. If I fill in my genealogy program with full date and location
information for every event for which I have it, I end up with a pretty nice
looking, full of information Family Group Sheet. But, doing this produces a
particularly irritating genealogy book printout. For example, on one person
in Register style you might have:
John Smith was born 23 March 1721/2 in Windsor, Connecticut. He died there
before his will was proved 8 November 1776. He married there, 23 June 1744,
Jane Doe.
And this becomes:
John Smith was born 23 March 1721/2 in Windsor, Hartford County,
Connecticut. He died before 8 November 1776 in Windsor, Hartford County,
Connecticut . He married 23 June 1744, in Windsor, Hartford County,
Connecticut, Jane Doe.
The repetition of placenames becomes cumbersome. That's my pet peeve.
Yours, Barbara Mathews
