The issues that have recently surfaced about Broderbund appears to be about
the city/county/state CDs.. However, I would like to comment on another
category of CD Roms. That of the Family lines.

I found one of my family lines on a Family CD and some it was incorrect, such
as spellings of names, birthdates mixed up, etc.. I have no idea where it
was obtained, but statements made and facts known on the CD could only have
come from my writings. I got the name of the submitter, I did not know
her... nor would she reveal where she got the information. It had to be
"close" to home.. but the fact it was submitted, copied and sold without my
notice or permission, appears to put Broderbund in the same category as the
infamous company of Bath, Ohio.

I see the Broderbund booth at the Genealogy Conferences and am concerned at
the volumes of CDs being sold.. I always wonder, "How much of that has been
documented?"

Somehow we need to approach Borderbund with these issues with "honey" and see
if we can be productive in our efforts. Any ideas welcomed...

Thanks for listening..
