Yikes.. I can tell you from firsthand experience that
marketing departments pay very close attention to
reviews and any/all "seals of approval". If the
approving organization makes very sure that its
approvals are well publicized and the organization
itself works at promoting its standards, then the
vendors most definitely will pay attention.

The devil is in the details. I don't resent the
elitists at Consumer Reports - because they don't
tell me buy/don't buy. They simply give me information
about the product and the criteria they used. They
let the consumer decide which one meets the need.
