I forwarded your "Librarian" to our Special Collections Department at St.
Louis County Library. Here in St. Louis we are extremely fortunate to have
several fine libraries that are interested in whatever materials we can get!
Many good suggestions were made. Here are a few more. You might be to ask
a noted genealogical library in your area for some figures on how many
patrons use the facility during the day. I am not a librarian but in my
former business, more patrons meant more budgeted dollars.
One thing that our librarian suggested was that the librarian herself might
want to talk to others librarians who work with genealogists. Or maybe she
could have one of the assistants who does have an interest who has an
interest take over that chore :-).
A final suggestion is that your members might want to volunteer at the
library to assist others patrons with the collection. By becoming visible,
they can get public support for increased money and books.
Finally, congratulations on raising the money! You and the members of your
society should be very proud and commended on your hard work!
