Could someone please help me?

I just received my documents for transcription and I was wondering is it in
appropriate to go to the original source of one of the documents? It seems
that since this document has been copied several times that the quality is
very poor. I realize this could be exactly what a client may send to a
professional. On a professional level I know what I would do. I would try to
go to the original source for a better copy. I would also check several other
records to back up the information stated in the document that I would
transcribe.
What I need to know would this procedure be inappropriate since this is a
document being transcribe for the board? I would be grateful for any advice.
