For anyone who is doing research that involves early records in "Krummes
Elsass": if you have heard about the record extractions done by Gerhard
Hein, which until recently have been available on a very limited basis,
these are now available in a CD. Information on these is online at:
http://www.rolf-freytag.de/neu/ke.htm
He asks you to e-mail him your mailing address and the CDs you want (he has
a few other choices) and he will send you the CDs, and you will send him
payment. I e-mailed him on Dec. 26, and the CDs arrived in the mail
yesterday (Dec. 30) (along with a Christmas card from a friend/researcher in
Bar Berleburg that was mailed to week before, so maybe I was just lucky with
the CDs). He trusts you to send him to payment after you have received them!
The price for the CDs is $60. cash or PayPal (an Internet fund switching
service) or $70. check.
The CDs include something like 69 or 71 separate publications of various
church books, tax lists, etc. dating from the 1600s and 1700s. These were
valuable to researchers on my line who were able to go back on some parts of
the line four generations before ancestors who arrived in Pennsylvania in 1749.
