I suspect you all get questions about how to become a professional
genealogist. I'm wondering how you answer them, especially when it is
someone who truly has little comprehension of the challenges that face
us!

When I answer such requests, I always include the URL to lead them to
our APG site and suggest they read the article about hiring a
professional. And I send them to the Board for Certification site so
they can read about that.

While I don't want to discourage people from pursuing a dream, neither
do I want them to have an unrealistic picture.

I think it's time for me to create a generic but informational form
letter. Your help would be appreciated.
