Hello,

Several items.

First, I would like permission to republish Kathy Hinkley's tips for
searching the APG directory to the list
because I periodically suggest that folks contact a local professional
for a consultation in the area they are researching.

Second, I suggest that APG folks seriously consider advertising their
availability and rates for such a consultation service if you do not
already.

Next, this all ties in with Jeff's suggestion that locale and expertise
are primarily the kind of search item that folks want recommendations
for whether they are looking for a consultation on a research trip or
interested in hiring someone in that locale or topic.

Finally, I recognize that logistics and technical aspects of
implementing these features is not an overnight process. But while the
APG site now has this new feature and format, the updates for the
directory are not in yet. So I was somewhat addled that I *thought* I
had updated my listing, but it wasn't there yet. My guess is that this
search capability is a preparatory phase even though the data base
isn't updated yet.

I think that the APG directory will become an even more valuable tool
which in turn adds value to APG members and their ability to provide
expertise where it is needed.
