Connie,

If I ever cataloged my books I would use the system like they use at DAR.
State, county, Type of record. Dewey is the name of Hughey's brother. I
have always believed that a personal library should be set up like a
bookstore. For the ease of the customer rather than the person who needs to
know the specific place on the shelf that a book belongs.

Nothing is more frustrating than to have to look in six places for books
that relate to the same county. In the bookstore, if a book refers to more
than two counties it is put in the state general reference section. If I
only have one copy, the two county book is put in the first county
mentioned.

LCC and Dewey are great for large libraries that deal with thousands of
different topics in thousands of different areas. However, we have specialty
collections. One area, genealogy.
