Arrival in time for APG-PMC on Tuesday

For Ken Aitken and others arriving in the mid to late afternoon on Tuesday, 11 September it might make more sense to go directly to the RiverCenter or Blackhawk Hotel. Conference registration begins at 3:00 p.m. and the APG-PMC at 4:00.

As Ken mentioned, he is arriving at the airport at 2:15. It would seem almost impossible to be sure the plane was on time, that the luggage arrived at the carousel quickly, that the hotel shuttle arrived at the airport promptly, and then you checked into your hotel and then got to the RiverCenter to register and to the PMC at 4:00! Whew, I am tired just thinking about this schedule. So, why not go directly to the meeting site?

You might be able to find a fellow APG member who would agree to store your luggage in their downtown hotel room or there will likely be some room at the back of the Gold Room East in the Blackhawk where the PMC will take place.

Holiday Inn Shuttles

On Tuesday afternoon, 11 September, the Holiday Inn shuttle will depart from the main lobby entrance of the Holiday Inn at 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. to take guests to the RiverCenter. The complete Holiday Inn shuttle will be in the on-site Program Schedule and Conference Information booklet all registrants receive at the conference. The shuttle departs the Holiday Inn about 8 times a day on Wednesday through Saturday, and yes, it will bring guests back to the Holiday Inn, too! We are grateful to the Holiday Inn for being so generous with this complimentary shuttle.

Restaurants

Another question asked was about restaurants. Each registrant will receive a list of downtown Davenport restaurants with hours and type of food listed. This will be keyed to a downtown map. The on-site booklet details breakfast options, including things at all four conference hotels. One hint that has appeared in FGS Forum articles about preparing for this conference was to be sure to pack something to snack on. I always carry granola bars, pretzels, or apples from home to a conference for a quick breakfast or snack. During the hours the Exhibit Hall is open there will be a concession stand in there.

Are you all packed? See you in a few weeks!
