A clear advantage to having a router is the ability to access your laptop
from your desktop PC. When I'm ready to travel for research or to speak, I
simply plug in my laptop to the router. Then I can "see" my laptop's hard
drive from my desktop system. I copy my latest Outlook address book and
e-mails over to the laptop. I copy lectures or family history files from my
desktop to the laptop so I know I have the latest files. Then when I come
home, I do just the reverse - moving everything from the laptop back to the
desktop by simply dragging files. This is all much easier than copying files
to multiple floppy disks to move them from PC to laptop. My husband got an
extra hug and kiss the day he installed my router!
