Lisa... I used the term "micropublication" throughout my book (and there
are MANY census citations in my book) based on census citation styles in
Evidence! by Elizabeth Mills. I certainly hope the reviewers do not
pick at my use of that word, as I think it is acceptable. And even if I
wanted to change the term, it is too late we are in the final stages of
publication. Also--ESM reviewed that section of my book. We added more
detail about citing census records and I gave examples for each type.

The National Archives prefers the term "Microfilm Publication" rather
than "Micropublication." This was mentioned by Connie Potter in the
1998 NIGR class I attended. See "Citing Records in the National
Archives of the United States," NARA General Information Leaflet #17, if
you want to see their example of a microfilm publication citation. This
leaflet also refers to NARA GIL #5, "Using Records in the National
Archives for Genealogical Research," for guidelines on citing records
and microfilm containing genealogical information.
Thanks for the soundex citation example. Just recently I had to use a
soundex card because the schedule was illegible.
