The message below is from APG member, Bob Keener, Akron, Ohio, regarding
the possibility of forming a new chapter. If you would like to
correspond with Bob directly, his email address is .
Kathleen W. Hinckley, APG Executive Director.

Dear Colleagues,

As genealogists, we are well aware of the "lone wolf" nature of our
business. One of the reasons APG exists is to provide an organization
that allows us to network with our peers in order to increase our
professionalism and to simply make contact with others who share our
interests and difficulties.

With typical forethought and planning, it occurred to me over the
weekend that the upcoming Ohio Genealogical Society Convention on April
18 through 21 would provide a perfect opportunity for organizing a
regional chapter of the APG.

Currently, I'm in the process of arranging for a time and space to meet
in order to discuss the organization of a chapter, adoption of by-laws,
election of officers (if any beyond the chapter rep to the APG), the
geographic scope of the chapter and to determine just what we hope to
accomplish within this organization.

When more details are available (hopefully, but Tuesday), I'll post them
here. Also, flyers will be available at the convention with the details
of the meeting. If anyone would like to pitch in in advance, I'd love to
hear from you.

Bob Keener

Akron, Ohio
