<< Stated problem:
"Beriah appears once in Litchfield County buying a piece of property and
selling it back to the grantor in the next deed. Not a mortgage either.
Very odd." >>

This was the usual common law method, often called a "straw-man conveyance,"
for creating covenants running with the land or other limitations on the
owner's use of the property. A careful comparison of all the language in
both deeds, and in the deed by which Beriah's grantor acquired the land, is
necessary to determine the differences in the various interests conveyed.
