Subject: [APG] Question
Date: Fri, 31 May 2002 13:14:54 -0400
I am new to the list , and would like to pose a question to all to see what
solutions you might have. I have been working on the family of Edward Fitz
Randolph and Elizabeth Blossom, and there descendents. I am working on a
particular branch, John Martin Fitz Randolph b 1829, Piscataway, New Jersey
(parents were Simeon & Jane Pierson Fitz Randolph) and his second wife Anna
Eliza DeCamp. This marriage produced 4 issues, of which we are working on
daughter, Eliza Jane Fitz Randolph b 1863 Piscataway, NJ.
It seems that this daughter married in 1886 Lawrence C Winston, and had one
child Blanche Eleanor Winston b Feb 4,1887 Lexington, Kentucky. This is the
problem, after a very long search there seems to be no information on Mr
Winston anywhere. No date of birth, no family, no siblings,no date of death.
In trying to obtain his daughter's birth certificate we were told that in
1887 there was very little record keeping done, therefore producing no birth
certificate. We have tried the Census but that just proved to be a dead end,
only his wife Eliza and daughter are found in the 1900 NJ Census together
but listed as Married, but Mr. Winston is not listed. In 1920 NJ Census she
is listed as widowed. No one knows when or where Mr. Winston died.
My question is what do you tell a client when you have reached a brick wall
? We have checked the Fitz Randolph genealogy but Eliza was born after the
genealogy was compiled.
I am open to any suggestions and thank you,
Trisha Hamilton-Leo
