I agree with Connie when she wrote -
Although this doesn't answer the original
question, I wanted to share these
experiences with everyone and say, just hang in
there, if one thing doesn't
work, try another approach.
I recently had to try to access Medical
Examiner's records in Massachusetts from 1919 for
a client. I asked many sources, and no one could
tell me who had custody of these records,
although everyone agreed I probably could not
gain access to them. Then, I was discussing the
problem again with a staffer at the Mass.
Archives, where I had already enquired about
these records at least four or five times, and
she told me that the state kept something called
Medical Examiner's Returns, which contain at
least minimal information, and offered to bring
out the relevant volume. It was helpful, even if
I still would like to get into the original
records.
Persistence, and continuing to try to think
of new avenues to locate the information you
want, often pays off. Good Luck,
