Hello Helen:

Two possibilities:

1) The best program for the Mac, in the opinion of many, is Reunion. I used
it for several years with satisfaction.

The web site is:
http://www.leisterpro.com/

OR

2) Install a Windows emulation program, Virtual PC seems to be the best, and
then run any Windows based program you wish. This is what I did five years
ago and have no complaints. I'm now using The Master Genealogist (TMG) on my
Mac which has a Unix based Mac OS X operating system. (I switched from
Reunion because TMG has the documentation flexibility that a serious
genealogist needs.)

For Virtual PC info go to:
http://www.connectix.com/products/vpc5m.html

For The Master Genealogist go to:
http://www.whollygenes.com/tmg.htm

An excellent site for looking at descriptions of all genealogy software
programs is

Lou Kessler's Genealogy Program Links
http://www.lkessler.com/gplinks.shtml

I hope this is the sort of information your friend wanted.

Wilfred
