Subject: [APG] Ellis Island Records Question
Date: Tue, 4 Mar 2003 13:05:39 -0000
Hi All,
I have been poking around on the internet with no luck. I also sent a query
to the Ellis Island History Center, but have not gotten any response. I am
trying to answer three basic questions about records on Ellis Island ca.
1915.
1. Do any records from the hospital still exist, and if so, where/how can
they be accessed?
2. If a passenger died in the hospital on Ellis Island in December 1915,
would there have been a death certificate issued and if so, who would have
issued it?
3. Where might the passenger, a child, born in the U.S., to resident but
non citizen parents, have been buried?
I would appreciate directions to a source that might answer these questions.
I did find one book in the FHL catalogue, which might answer my questions,
but it is not in my local library's collection. I also suspect it will deal
more with the passenger lists than hospital or death records.
Thanks,
Donna Gruber
