Judy,

Thank you for posting this link! The 'survey' is relatively concise, yet
thorough. I copied it to a file and after asking my mother about it, will
start sending her a few questions at a time, perhaps one section's worth per
week or so.

Of interest, a while back when I got my father's SS-5, I mentioned to my
mother where he was working at the time. She absolutely LIT UP, and we
ended up having a great conversation about her working there at the
time--that's where my father began courting my mother--and much more. Other
family members worked in the same place (at least one other married couple),
two of whom became members of my parents wedding party; another family
member owned a restaurant around the corner where tehy all ate lunch . . .
This conversation took place AFTER I had been asking every question I could
think of to ask for years. (Then there's the other situation concerning my
Ggrandmother's dob--my mother insists it must be off by a couple years [ALL
census and the record of birth]--because she KNOWS her gram wasn't THAT
young when she had her first child--lol). Share selectively perhaps?

A point about the above to possibly share with our patrons, would be to
share what WE learn, rather than solely trying to gather information from
those still with us, from whom we have so much to learn. In my case, that
sharing led to gathering more information than I probably ever would have,
had I not shared that "minor detail" with my mother about where dad worked
in the 1930's.
