Help! I have reached the "fried brain" stage of some research and need your
input. I am trying to find lists of
1. Red Coats stationed in New England in 1689,
2. the crew of the frigate Rose, a royal Naval vessel stationed out of Boston
in 1689 and,
3. passengers (actually, prisoners) and crew names of the frigate Rose on its
return voyage to England in Spring, 1690.

The closest I have found is a list of the first 60 Red Coats sent to New
England in the mid-1680's and another list of just the officers on board the Rose
during the 1689 Boston uprising against Gov. Andros. But neither of those
lists gave me what I needed.

I can pretty much guaranty the lists are not in DC. I spent a lot of time
there in October looking. Does anyone know for sure of any place in the States
where this information would be? One thought I had was the Essex Institute but
I have only been there once and really can't recall what they have. Since
these would be English military records, they may be available only in Britain. If
so, does anyone there know where in Britain and how to get copies? Does
anyone have any other ideas?
