Dear Ray and List,

Well Ray, methinks you opened a wee can 'o worms. By now, you surely
realize that you acted hastily, and I would like to remind the list that
Ray's original posting did say he was being inundated with spam. That
can make any of us testy. As for myself, I don't post here often due to
intimidation (the brains on this list just blind me with their
brilliance and baffle me with their bull. <g>) But I read all posts
voraciously and learn, learn, learn! Now, were the chance for me to
find a job using these skills to come along on the list I'd be
delighted.

So, on to a new topic. I have never asked this group for help - but
here goes. I have found that my paternal grandmother was adopted. What
is the professional community stance on adoption as relates to
"inclusion" in a family line? Is it just a dead end? Also where does
one start to find birth parents 120 yrs. After the fact?! Census
reference is my only clue to place of birth and that is only "Kansas."
FYI; I hold a deep suspicion that the adoption was *within the family*,
i.e. unwed mother with childless older brother and sister-in-law. This
makes even the stated place of birth suspect. TIA.

Cordially,
Catherine Foote Lynn
