Thank you to everyone who contacted me with suggestions on how to
open the Michigan Marriage Index I have on a floppy disk.
It will not open with Notepad, WordPad, in Excel, Word, or
WordPerfect. The little description appears okay but then the actual
information is all scrambled and symbols.
When I look at the files on the disk it shows up as mi1850.txt.
However, when I check the properties it says the type of file is: 001 File
and in another place it gives an added extension - mi1850.txt.01.
This is an old KwikSearch Dataset from Precision Indexing. Is if
possible that I need special utility program to open this?
I would like to be able to access the information if possible. Any
additional suggestions would be most welcome.
