All,

Is it necessary to follow a source as it moves from repository to repository
for provenance or only where you original saw it and its history before that
point? Example is a newspaper obituary or similar item that is the source
of information, but is found in a scrapbook. (Based on information from
this list the actual article is the source, not the scrapbook.) It was
compiled by Lena, I gathered information from it in 1997, while she was
alive and owned the original newspaper item. She died in 1998, her husband
indicated in 2001 that he had given the scrapbook containing the original
sources to their daughter. I haven't needed to refer back to it, but
someone else may want to at some point, but all the sources are now in a
different location. Do I need to modify each source to reflect the new
repository and provide additional provenance?

Thank you for your time,
Kevin Sholder
