If they want statistics, you probably don't want open-ended
questions. You would want questions that could be answered "Yes" or
"No," or multiple choice. This makes it easier to score or grade and
convert to statistics. (But doesn't necessarily do a better job at
actually measuring what people have learned - that's a different
topic!)
