Michele: You were misinformed. I just checked the online catalog for the microfilm holdings at the GA Archives and see deeds from 1783, marriages from 1785, minute books from 1782, etc. They have been microfilmed and copies should be at both the GA Archives and the LDS Family History Libraries. The courthouse clerks tend to be more informed on the recent records and less so on the very old ones. I'm generalizing here, of course.
