I would like to add my agreement with the several postings that I have
seen on this list regarding RootsMagic. As others have done, I too
began many years ago with its predecessor, Family Origins.

Bruce Buzbee (the program's author)has, in my opinion, done the most
difficult job for a software developer to do. He has created a product
that is both (1) intuitive to use and (2) thorough. I recommend it
highly to anyone who is a beginner, as it is so simple to use and
understand. It is also a product that you can stay with as your
genealogical (and computing) skills advance. And, as has been pointed
out as significantly important, it does a fine job of source documentation.

The printed output is also crisp, clean, and complete. And you can
change many of the print options (headers, fonts, page layout, etc.) to
suit your personal preferences.

Rootsmagic was the innovator of providing three on-screen views:
Pedigree, Family, and Descendants. I spoke with Bruce recently at the
NGS Conference in Phoenix and he has some great new goodies planned for
the next release, too. So stay tuned!
