Don and Alvie,
For many years I worked in the public administration of Employment
Insurance. The application for Maternity benefits and the actual medical
certificate asked for the "Expected date of confinement". You have no
idea how many times staff had to explain that one to applicants. I will
bet that you are correct and the woman died during childbirth.
