And maybe to ask if the marketer abides by a code of ethics similar to the
one that accredited genealogists follow. Like the one for the American
Marketing Association http://www.marketingpower.com/content435.php ,
apparently not.
It's a good idea. Industry surveys are useful, but so is up-front honesty. A
better approach would have been to say that we are doing an industry survey
and if you participate we will make the results available to you to
compensate for your non-billable time. This comes across as a blatant theft
of time.
Pity the poor marketer that attempts such an honest effort in the future and
finds the well poisoned.
