When the NGS 2003 conference was here in Pittsburgh I created a lecture on
how to go to conferences in general and the NGS one in particular. I gave it
about ten times to societies all around the area. I think it helped in
getting them familiar with what to expect from the cost (with suggestions
for lowering it) to what to wear (layers and comfortable shoes). I walked
them through the on-line registration process and discussed how to choose
lectures. I just didn't want people to miss out on an opportunity in their
backyard due to lack of information.
