Subject: RE: [APG] WW I draft card - conscientious objectors

I took advantage of the Ancestry.com 14-day free access to draft cards. One
side of my family was entirely missing. This is not surprising because they
were Mennonites and therefor pacifists. I have a few questions for those
who might be familiar with the WWI draf law:
- Weren't all eligible males required to register even if they claimed
exemption on certain grounds (like C.O.?)
- Did all who registered have draft cards filled out (and retained?)
- Did the status of "consciencious objector" even exist for the WWI draft,
or was that a later development?
Thanks for any insights.
