Too often we hear about cemeteries that get no upkeep at all, so I though
perhaps you would enjoy hearing a warm fuzzy.

I often wonder how these old cemeteries can continue to afford the
maintenance on the old gravesites. I am in possession of deeds to two plots my
great-grandfather purchased in New Oxford (Adams County, PA) Cemetery which is a
nicely maintained cemetery in a gorgeous setting in the countryside backing to
a creek and woods. New Oxford Cemetery is located directly on The Lincoln
Highway (US 30) about 11 miles east of Gettysburg.
The deeds I have show that great-granddad, Henry MYERS, purchased one plot
of 6 graves in 1879 and another in 1895 and there are receipts tucked in with
the deeds showing he paid $5 for each plot and an additional sum of $5 in
1895 for perpetual care on both plots. Both plots continue to be well kept up.
Now THAT'S what I call perpetual care! <g>
