Elissa,

I was recently working with this group of records (RG 147) at NARA - San
Bruno, CA. I was given the actual shoe boxes (archival) of records to
cull through. I was able to photo copy the records of interest along
with the end of the shoe box that had the complete RG label. So I did
not experience the problem with the film that you encountered.

In reading through NARA's web site for information about this record
group I did not notice that parts of the collection had been filmed
The information on the NARA web site and in other local publications
pertaining to these records state "... for individuals BORN in
California and Hawaii... This statement is incorrect, the records
include all men, in the designated age range who were living in
California and Hawaii" at the time of this draft.

I noticed that some cards were misfiled. And for some draft boards it
appeared that the draft board worker filled out the card while the
registrant signed the card. Additional information included new
addresses if someone moved and date of death. One card went to so far
as to state: "Vacated due to death __________" followed by the date of
death.
