Tom,

I was 34 in 1981 when I got started in genealogy. My father asked if I would
use the information at the local college to disprove a family story that his
younger brother was circulating in the family, because it did not agree with
what he remembered his father telling him. Using my father's information got
me nowhere (I was looking several hundred miles too far east.) After several
weeks, I got a copy of the information my uncle was circulating and was able
to confirm some of his information. Nearly twenty-five years later, I am
still unable to prove or to disprove part of the information from my uncle.

However, this brief foray into genealogy was sufficient to get me hooked.
