Glenn,
In addition to the page that Joan mentioned, may I suggest
"Find your Legislator"
http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/members/legsearch.asp

Links on the right side include a map of the state with the
Legislative Districts outlined, since district numbers don't tell
anyone what part of the state that number represents. There is a
link, when you know district number(s), to the assembly persons with
their contact info.

If your ancestors are from certain area, may I suggest contacting the
legislators who represent that area? There are 2 per district in the
Assembly, and 1 per district in the Senate.

In case anyone cares, this page tells
How a Bill Becomes Law in New Jersey
http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/legislativepub/legprocess.asp

Hope this helps,

Middletown, NJ
