I guess everyone has to get over the feeling of guilt when the results
are less than expected, but whats helpful to me is making sure upfront
the client understands my purpose and adding a note on client
agreements and fees lists which includes something like this:

"to provide research assistance by researching only authorized services
requested...and understand this is not a guarantee that the request
will be located..."

"Please note that you are paying me to do your "leg work" as there is no
guarantee the
documents or answers you are researching will be available..."

I don't rush the research and of course following up with one wopper of
a client report of citations and tips!

Good Luck!
