Subject: NGSQ graphs/charts

Listers,
I have received some excellent advice on my last two questions today, so
I am going to venture another one. The NGSQ has such beautiful charts and
graphs. I particularly like how they can take a part of a state and "raise" it
above the state as a whole, highlighting a specific area. I would love to be
able to create this kind of work. I have no idea what software they use for
this or what software I should consider buying to give me this same ability.
So far, I have not found anything about the font or point size either, in
recent journals. I would appreciate anyone's suggestions and guidance in this
area. Thank you for your time.
