Subject: Finally Found Grandparents' Wedding License, But....
Date: Tue, 4 Jul 2006 14:05:34 -0400 (EDT)
I've got a situation that I could really use some help with.
After many years of searching, I finally found my paternal grandparents'
wedding license. (They're long dead (1958 and 1961), but all the kids
are alive.)
The wedding license is dated March 1931.
The oldest kid (not my dad) was born in June 1931. (She's also my favorite
aunt.)
My dad, born in 1934, says not to tell any of them. (He says he's not
surprised about the date. Hmm...)
I had been aware that there were no wedding pictures, but had attributed
that to their being married in the depths of the Depression. (My maternal
grandparents were married at my maternal grandmother's home in mid-1934. I
know there is at least one picture of that, which is a photo of my
grandmom and her sister-bridesmaids.)
There is a possibility that some folks on this side of the family will be
applying to hereditary societies. I can always tell them to get the proof
from the Probate Judge's office in their home county.
