Mary Louise, you've gotten excellent advice from Carolyn, Claire, and
Jeanette. In addition to their recommendations and the programs you've
already read about in ProGen, there's the certificate program offered by the
University of Toronto-based National Institute for Genealogical Studies. The
next printing of ProGen should include NIGS also.

Regarding certification, one technical point needs addressing. Only BCG
offers "certification"---i.e., the Certified Genealogist credential. ICAPGen
offers accreditation---i.e., the Accredited Genealogist credential.
