Chuck, the AG program instituted renewals about 10 years ago. During the
period that I was BCG president (1994-96), my vp (Joan Ferris Curran) and I
discussed "mutual interests" with reps from the AG program on several
occasions. In the wake of those discussions, the AG program instituted two
changes: like BCG, the AG program would thereafter require every-five-year
renewals; and, like BCG, the AG program would require submission and
evaluation of a client report. Those changes also lay the foundation for
later cooperation when, in 1999, FHL was phasing out the AG program and
negotiated with BCG to give individual AGs the option of converting to a BCG
credential or going with the new ICAPGen program.
