I'm not sure that I believe that when a person applied for their SS # is
actually necessary for a genealogy site SSDI, but the original SS-5 application
would have been signed and dated by the applicant and SSA would have stats on
when various group numbers were issued--the group numbers are the middle two
numbers and these are issued in order as explained on this page:
