Subject: [APG] Closed v. Open List

The very reason I subscribed to this list was to seek advice & counsel from
the "experts" in this area. It has been one of the most beneficial lists
I'm on and I've learned a lot. I do not purport to be a professional
genealogist, but I think I am a better researcher than your average bear.
There have been circumstances where I have done work for individuals that I
could have charged for but chose not to. I don't want to be a professional
genealogist . . . my own research consumes so much of my time and there
would be no way I could feed my addiction if I worked for others. Nor do I
want to pursue a credential -- I've spent enough time earning a BS, an MA,
and a paralegal credential and I just don't want to devote the time, energy,
and money that pursuit of a credential entails. I just want to be able to
tap into the expertise of the sage members of this list.

That being said, if the list chooses to become a closed list, then it will
have to be removed from Rootsweb. According to the policies of Rootsweb, a
list administrator may not "close your list by unsubscribing everyone, or by
refusing to allow anyone to subscribe."
