Subject: [APG] Help with a French name, please

In a quick check of ancestry.com, we can only find the
surname
Fortvendel
in New Orleans, except for SSDI.
We are of course researching spelling variations, but
Fortvendel is used so consistently the it appears to
have been the accepted spelling for this particular
family at the time.
However, I don't think that was the original French
version of the name. Any ideas? Have found it later
as Fortvintilla and Fort Vaudelle.
Thanks,
Dee
